Principal’s Message January 2014

Dear Parents,

Welcome back from what I hope was a blessed Christmas season for each of you! The start of a new year in my mind is much like the start of a new school year. Everyone is excited about the upcoming year, wondering what will be in store for us, looking forward to change, setting short and long term goals and perhaps resolving to do something different or new. For most people who do commit themselves to a “new year’s resolution”, the data for those who actually stick to it and maintain their plan for more than a couple of months is statistically very low.

Not so at Meadowlark Christian… the constant resolve of the staff and community at MCS to provide a learning environment that is focused on student Learning and academic success, while Living our lives in Christ, Leading in service to others and Loving with strength of character is not new, nor is it something that will pass by the wayside in a short amount of time. It is our ongoing commitment and resolution that doesn’t change from year to year. These four L’s continue to shape and guide the culture of this very special school environment. I invite you to participate in two upcoming events, which will enhance this environment and add to our students’ positive experiences.

A parent prayer group will soon be meeting regularly and further detailed information with specifics can be found in this newsletter. On February 6 and 7, the MCS Foundation and Meadowlark Christian School will be hosting a speaking group called AXIS. The AXIS group is based in Colorado Springs, CO and have been repeat guest speakers at several Christian schools in the Edmonton area. This highly recommended two day event for students in Grades 6-9, will also include a session for parents on Thursday February 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the school. The mission of AXIS is to help youth understand their beliefs and live their faith within the context of today’s culture and media influences.

I hope that your year is off to a fantastic start!
